Nicodemus, A Teacher Who Lacked Understanding Part Two (2011011)

In John 3:9-10 we read, “‘How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.  10 ‘You are Israel’s teacher,’ said Jesus, ‘and do you not understand these things?’”

Nicodemus is typical of some who profess to be teachers of religion today; men of great scholarly training and intellectual knowledge but little experience and understanding in the manner in which the word of God should intersect upon the creation of God.  They are men who are able to quote Scripture with their mouths, and give great and lengthy dissertations on God’s Holy Book.  Yet, at the same time have little or no idea of what it means to have witnessed God working out his salvation right in front of them.  Such men have allowed themselves to be giants in the accumulation of intellectual knowledge while remaining ignorant of the application of that knowledge within the kingdom of God.  They are teachers who need to once again become students of Jesus.
