In John 3:12 we read the words of Jesus to Nicodemus saying, “I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?”
What earthly things did Jesus talk about with Nicodemus? Sin was not mentioned, nor the things of common occurrences of everyday life, so what were the earthly things Jesus spoke about? The earthly things that Jesus was speaking of were the spiritual realities that were being manifest or evident in this present realm. It was evident that God’s Spirit was leading men and women to put Christ on in baptism. It was evident that ordinary fishermen were being transformed into men of great faith. It was evident that a great spiritual awakening was beginning in Israel.
Don’t be like Nicodemus! God wants you to see, to believe and to know him through having a personal relationship with the Spirit of Christ.
