Honoring My Father Part One (20110117)

My father departed this world last Monday to go be with the Lord.  And, so I would like to take some time this week to stop to honor him and consider the Lord’s word in regard to our parents.

It wasn’t always easy for me to do, but through the years I did learn to truly honor my father.  I am quite sure that there were times in both our lives that the two of us wondered if our relationship would ever be all that it could be.  But by the end of our journey together, I can promise you, we did learn to share in honoring one another.

In the fifth of the Ten Commandments we read in Deuteronomy 5:16, “Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.”

Through the years this godly principle has brought to both me and my father blessings that are far richer than any amount of silver and gold.  It is my wish that you too might know the blessing of honoring your father.

Living Big In Jesus,

Keith
