For many of us it is easy to think that we simply don’t have enough of the things we need. We may often find ourselves thinking that we would be happier if we had just one more thing or if we had a relationship with that special someone. Then we would be happy.
Actually, we are not far from the truth when we think in that manner. The problem, however, that we so often run into is that we place our emphasis upon the wrong thing or wrong person.
Peter reminds us, as he writes about God saying, “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him…” (2 Peter 1:3, NIV). The “him” that Peter is speaking of is Jesus. It is not through having all the stuff, or even having the right relationships with many folks in this world that will truly make us happy. It is having a right relationship with Jesus. Once we are truly in a saved relationship with Jesus, then we will discover that our every need is met and we will find our true happiness.
Living Big In Jesus,
