“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14, NIV).
Have you ever wished for a friend who truly understood who you are? Most of us have probably had that thought somewhere along the way in life. Isn’t it interesting that Jesus, who is our Creator, must have know that we would have such a desire to be know in this manner?
Jesus, who is God, was willing to become as we are, that is to put on flesh. He was willing grow up into a young man and become a carpenter, laboring hard to make provision for his family. He was willing to get bumped and bruised in life, willing to suffer humiliation and rejection by his town, his countrymen and even his closest friends. He was willing to become flesh, to die on the cross. And why would he do these things? Because he wants to become your friend.
