A Dignified Response in a Difficult Situation (20101126)

“Then the Jews demanded of him, “What miraculous sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?”  19  Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”  20  The Jews replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?”  21  But the temple he had spoken of was his body.  22  After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.”  (John 2:18-22, NIV)

The irony continues doesn’t it?  That the ones guilty of breaking the law are asking the One keeping the law to give a testimony as to his authority.  He has just driven the animals out of the temple court, yet gives a dignified response to the lawbreakers.  What a great example he is for us when we find ourselves in a difficult spot.  Let us allow the Spirit of Christ, rather than the situation, to define our thoughts and actions just like Jesus.

Living Big In Jesus,
