Our last couple of lessons has been looking at Proverbs 31 where we find the text discussing a wife of noble character. In verses sixteen through eighteen we read, “She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. 17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. 18 She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.”
Anyone who believes that God is in the business of keeping a woman down does not know the Lord or his ways. Here we find that God admires a woman who is making a way for herself and her family as she engages in free enterprise. The wife here of noble character surveys land, buys land, builds something of value on the land, and realizes a profit from her vision and her work. Along with all her other gifts and talents, this woman is held in highest regard. Proverbs says she is a wife of noble character.
