In John chapter 3:14-15 we read, “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.”
Thousands of years ago when Israel grumbled against the leadership of Moses and sinned against the Lordship of God she suffered for her indiscretions. There was no hope in escaping certain death from the poisonous serpents all around her. There were no potions, doctors or sacrifices that could save her. Only a repentant heart and fixing her eyes upon the bronze serpent that God provided could grant the hope of drawing the next breath.
It is much the same today; we who have grumbled and sinned in our life situation against the Lord (and we all have sinned), have no hope or cure for the sting of death except for the One named Jesus who nearly two-thousand years ago, was lifted up on the cross of Calvary.
