Sometimes we just want to cry out for it…, mercy! Have mercy on me! I know I deserve to be rebuked. I know I deserve the discipline. But please! Have mercy on me.
At one time or another many of us have felt this way. And probably, at one time or another, someone has wanted to cry out, “mercy,” to us.
And for a moment, we have had to stop and think. We have had to decide, to show mercy, or not.
One day we will all stand before the Lord and have to give an account for our lives. We will have to give an account for our actions that have been less than gracious. We will have to give an account for our words that have been less than truthful, less than loving. One day we will cry out to God, “have mercy on me.
In part, God will answer our call then, in much the same manner in which we answer another person’s call for mercy today. Might we then, in hearing their call now, reflect on our call then, for mercy on that one great and final day?
Living Big In Jesus,
