On Being Born Again Part Thirteen (20101227)

I believe that most of us like to go to bed at night with the feeling that everything is all right between us and God.  That’s my goal for you today, that when night comes, you can have peace unto your soul because your conscience is clean and pure before God.

The Apostle Peter wants the same for you.  In 1 Peter 3:21 he speaks of baptism in that it saves us by the power of Jesus’ resurrection.  This baptism is not the removal of dirt from the body, but the pledge of a good conscience toward God.

You may remember how Jesus said that for one to see the kingdom of God they would have to be born of water and the Spirit.  We have seen how baptism accomplishes this.

Now we learn that baptism helps us to have a good conscience toward God.  This is simply because we have obeyed Jesus’ teaching and instruction.

How about you my friend?  How will you sleep tonight?  How is your conscience before the Lord?  Let me encourage you to be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit that you too might have sweet rest tonight and enter into the kingdom of God.

Living Big In Jesus,

Keith
