[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZoWsenUz6A]Shall not perish! Perish from what? Perish from life; to be separated, to be torn or ripped away from life itself. And what is life? Truly, life is a quality of existence. A very different quality of existence is death. Once we have born we will always exist. The real question is the quality of our existence.
Most of us can understand what it means to perish. All we have to do is think about a box of fine chocolate candies that we might have purchase for a loved one. If the chocolates come near a heat source they melt, they perish. It does not mean they cease to exist. It simply means they cease to have a desirable quality in their existence.
The same is true for you and me. And the quality of our existence is dependent upon our faith in Jesus. Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV).
