Baptism And The Blowing of the Spirit (20110105)

The wind blows wherever it pleases.  You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.  So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8, NIV)

We may remember earlier we discovered that baptism was a work not of man, but of God’s Spirit.  In 1 Corinthians 12:13 we read, “For we are all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given one Spirit to drink.”

At the time that Jesus had his conversation with Nicodemus, it was the Jews who had been God’s chosen people; but now things are going to change and God’s Spirit was going to move not only upon the Jews but upon all the nations of the world.  God’s chosen people would be those of any nation who humbly submitted to the conviction of God’s Holy Spirit as it freely moved upon the face of God’s creation.  How about you my friend?  Has God’s Spirit moved upon you and your life?  Have you subjected yourself to the teachings of Christ and been baptized into the Royal Priesthood of God?

Living Big In Jesus,
