You will remember a few lessons ago where I was discussing Jesus’ words in John chapter three verses three and five saying, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.” “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless his is born of water and the Spirit.”
It is interesting that Jesus talks about one being “born again” or being “born of water and the Spirit.” What is this being “born?” As we continue our study on these words of our Lord and Savior Jesus, and reflect upon the words of Peter, whom the Lord gave the “keys to the Kingdom” we begin to understand what the Lord is saying about being “born again.”
Being born again has to do with baptism. We will remember our study on baptism and how it meant we were to be immersed, dipped, plunged or buried in a body of water. It is when we come up out of that body of water we are being born of water. It is not difficult to see at all. It is really quite simple. To be born of water is the coming forth out of the water following baptism.
Tune in next time as we discuss what it means to be born of the Spirit!
