You may remember last time we visited we concluded with Peter’s response to those who heard his sermon. In response to his sermon many had asked, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
Peter responded to their inquiry saying, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38, NIV)
It is obvious from those who heard Peter’s sermon, that they believed Peter’s message. They had come to believe that this Jesus who had worked miracles before them, the One whom they had hung on the cross, was also the One who had been raised from the dead and is now sitting at the right hand of the throne of God.
They believed! And believing they asked Peter and those with him, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
The scoffers scoffed and went away, but the believers asked the all important question, “Brother, what shall we do?” And Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized”
Tune in next time as we continue to examine the meaning of Jesus’ words, “one must be born of water and the Spirit.”
Living Big In Jesus,
