“This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed at Cana in Galilee. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.” (John 2:11, NIV)
It has begun now. Jesus has performed his first miracle turning water into wine. And his small group of disciples having witnessed the testimony of his miraculous sign have had their faith increased. As the journey ahead for Jesus’ disciples pushes forward they will witness many more miracles and their faith will continue to grow.
But, with their ever increasing faith there will also be an increase of resistance to that faith from those who would one day pass judgment not only on their Lord, but on the disciples as well. I can’t help but to imagine that when times of testing and persecution would come upon these early disciples how that they might have found renewed courage and conviction as they remembered with joy filled hearts the time so long ago, when the water was turned to wine by Jesus.
